Before heading to breakfast at Calico County...
After...we are cultivating quite the little couch-potato...except she doesn't really sit on the couch yet...make that Boppy-potato
Oh, and since you can't read it I have to tell you that her shirts says "gorgeous (just like my mom)"...

As promised...here's the latest on Caroline. She's been "talking" to her friend George...and anyone else who'll listen...okay, actually she'd do it even if nobody was listening! Enjoy!

I swear, she's not in pain, even though it sounds like it...

Good Lord...you'd think it was cold or something!

...how CUTE is this child??? I really thought she'd get pissy about the hat, but she didn't mind at all. Now the mittens...that's another story. Not havin' it!
Oh, and here's the new coat Caroline got tonight. It was tough choosing between a classic red and this sweet fuschia color, but since her hat and mittens have pink, we went with this one.
Not sure that it'll fit yet, but it's definitely sassy! Can't wait to try it on her!

Well, Miss Caroline experienced her first "Black Friday" shopping spree last week! She was a real trooper, too! Gigi and I started at Kohl's at 4:00, while Caroline got a few last winks in. Nothing much there, so we headed by Wal-Mart...only to be scared off by the look of the packed parking lot. We went home and slept for about another hour, from 5:00 to 6:00. Then I woke little girly around 6:30, gave her some breakfast, and we were off to meet Aunty Hill at Target. Target yielded quite a few bargains...mostly for Caroline! Aunty Hill had to head home after that, so we were off to Towne East to have our mid-morning snack in the "mother's lounge" at Von Maur. After a little downtime there, we browsed a little in that store and made our way into the mall for a while. From there it was off to Mommy and Caroline's favorite store...Baby Gap! I found a great little green jacket for next spring, and some little "boy" blue jeans. The morning of shopping wore out Gigi and I, so we were off for lunch at Bella Luna Cafe, one of my favorite restaurants in Wichita. Caroline had her nap while we ate, but we ran into trouble after lunch when Mommy was going to change the girl. I smelled something...something not good. It was ALL the way up her BACK!!! Ewww! Not the first time it'd happened, but gross nonetheless. Gigi and I managed to change her in the back of the Tahoe in 40-degree weather. Then she got her lunch in the backseat of a warm car. Our last stop of the day was Hobby Lobby, my other favorite day-after-Thanksgiving hotspot. Found a few cute things there. Got some ribbon to make bows for Caroline's cousin Lola. Anyway, here are some shots of the day's highlights...

Checking out the ornaments at Target...

Glo-worm cracks her up...

Pretty figurines at Von Maur...don't touch!
Caroline's first Christmas ornament...sweet little "baby" snowman
"Yay! I love Baby Gap!!!"
"Hmmm...not sure about that one Mommy" (we bought it, though)
Well, this was the day after Black Friday...Caroline's first visit to Ted's Cafe Escondido...she looks stuffed, huh? :)

Today was Caroline's first Thanksgiving! Unfortunately, since she's only 16 weeks old, her turkey dinner was more like a Similac/apple-prune juice dinner. Yes, you read correctly, Caroline is now an apple-prune juice connoiseur. Since she transitioned to a formula-only diet last week, her little system has not quite adjusted yet. For those of you who don't know, mother's milk acts as a natural laxative...therefore, a lack of such natural laxative leads to a not-so-happy baby girl! After a rough night trying water, baby suppositories, and a call to the nurse this morning, Daddy came to the rescue! I won't go into the details about his "technique"...you can ask him about that yourself if you are brave enough. Let's just say that by the time I returned from the grocery store with the apple-prune juice suggested by the nurse, Caroline's (and Mommy's) misery was over. I think I was more stressed out by Caroline's "condition" than she was! Anyway, here are some pictures from her day...
Playing with cousins Lola and Jonas... Getting "petted" by cousin Lola...even though it looks like she's pulling her hair...she's really not!
Mid-sneeze...
Hanging out with my Papa! (Papa John...funny...ha ha!)

This morning Darren and I were watching VH1 Classic (our fave) when the video for "Pretty in Pink" by the Psychedelic Furs came on. It's the theme song from the movie of the same title...another fave of mine. I'd never noticed it before, but the song is about a girl named CAROLINE, and how she's "pretty in pink"!!! How sweet, huh? Well, I'm going to think of it as sweet...even though I looked up the lyrics and saw for myself that the girl in the song really isn't that sweet. You can check it out for yourself, but I'm just going to keep imagining it's about a cute little, pink-wearing, baby girl named Caroline! :)

Caroline has been working on sitting up in her Bumbo this week. She manages to make it a few minutes before getting completely frustrated. Is it just me, or does she look like she's riding a mechanical bull? Maybe she takes after her Mommy and Daddy...

Yes, this is us a LONG time ago... and by the way...did you know they make you sign a release form to ride this thing?

Against Daddy's wishes, I made a flower headband for Caroline. He thinks she looks silly with a flower "bigger than her head", but I think it's pretty darn cute! What do y'all think?

Just wanted to prove how much Caroline looks like her Mommy...
Like mother...
...like daughter!

Here's a peek at Caroline's new pal, "A". His parents will be bringing him home next week...they have waited SOOOO long for this special day! So have we!
He is TRULY the answer to many prayers!!!

...like daughter! Sunday afternoon football...

I don't know about y'all, but I was a HUGE Bill Cosby fan when I was a kid, and even now. In fact, Darren and I saw him perform live in Little Rock back in March. But that's not exactly what I'm here to talk about. It does involve Cosby, though. He had an old routine about snotty-nosed kids called "Glazed Doughnut Monster"...does anyone else remember it?
I'm fearful that little Caroline may be fixing to go through her first bout with the "Glazed Doughnut Monster". She has been very "snotty-sounding"...no runny nose yet, but lots of sneezing and we're finally able to get something out with the famed "booger-bulb". Poor baby, I've been having to wipe her nose, too. I suppose this is the start of those age-old battles between a child's nose and a tissue...or in her case, a wipe. {sigh}

Recognize this 'do?

see the resemblance? ;)

Here are some pics of our sweet little ladybug! No trick-or-treating this year...Northside had a home game, so of course we were there. It was unseasonably warm, so Caroline didn't spend too much time in the costume...it was just too hot.
Our girl is also 3 months old today! She had a checkup on Monday, and we found out that she is 13 pounds and 8 ounces and 26 inches long. She's in the 65th percentile for weight and (surprise, surprise) the 97th percentile for length/height. She's just getting SO darn big...and cute!

Caroline may become a "pro" thumb-sucker! Can't you just see the excitement in her eyes?

This is Caroline's newest friend. We met him tonight at Kohl's and decided to bring him home with us. (Yes, we paid for him first!) Technically, his name is George, but we won't know his "real" name until Caroline starts talking. I had a monkey and I called it "Bunkey". Daddy had a monkey he called "Monk". It remains to be seen what George's new name will be.
I think we'll let him stay...

...the Hogs suck this year...it's okay baby girl!
